Investors looking to bet on stocks such as Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SPCX.US) and Micron Technology, Inc. (MU.US) now have a new tool available - nearly 24-hour trading in single-stock futures.
CME Group on Monday launched cash-settled single-stock futures on 55 US stocks, along with micro contracts on 22 stocks, marking the exchange's entry into a market that allows investors to establish leveraged long or short positions around the clock.
The contracts trade on the CME Globex platform from Sunday evening through Friday afternoon, with a one-hour daily maintenance break, enabling investors to react to earnings results and other market-moving events outside regular US stock market trading hours.
The products include futures linked to SpaceX, which is regarded as one of Wall Street's most closely watched IPO candidates in recent years. Other underlying stocks include Micron, NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US), Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US) and Apple Inc. (AAPL.US).
